If you are here, that means you are about - or maybe already had - arrived to Poland to begin your international adventure!
Welcome, welcome!
If you are a student of our main campus in Dabrowa Gornicza (and you will use the option of flying to Poland) most probably you will land in our international airport Katowice Pyrzowice.
The airport in itself is on a smaller side, with only two terminals on sight, but very comfortable and easy to get around by.
Just in case, we want to remind our international students that you have to have your travel documents on yourself at all times in order to avoid any confusion during the entrance checkups.
Getting to the city from the airport is as easy as it gets. The shuttle bus goes straight to Katowice quite frequently and costs just 6,60 PLN (one side and without the student discount). The ticket can be purchased at a special dedicated ZTM machine, which you will find outside the airport nearby bus stop.
The machine accepts both cash and card payment options. Make sure to switch your language to English and chose the ticket option for 3 cities or 90 minutes with transfers.
We know you are a student and are obliged for a student discount but until you will have your student ID, unfortunately, you will not be able to buy the discounted ticket. Doing so might result in a fine, so be careful!
You can see the schedule for the bus here
From Katowice, you can travel to any city in the metropoly by using Jakdojade.
This portal is available for smartphones (click here for Android or here for IOS) or via the link below:
https://jakdojade.pl/katowice/trasa/
We recommend you install the application on your phone and connect your credit or debit card to be able to buy your tickets with ease and always be aware on how to get from point A to point B. So don't get lost!
Just in case, you can find some useful Polish phrases here:
https://www.katowice.eu/en/en/expat/emergency/useful-phrases
They will help during those first few days. We know they will be rather hard but you can do it!
And quite important - please save the emergency numbers listed below:
112 |
The general help line/emergency line. You can call to this number in case of any emergencies and the people from the info line will immediately switch you to the relevant bodies. |
986 |
The number you can use to reach the municipal police. |
